Eight deserving D.A.R.E. America Students, one Youth Advisory Board member, and one D.A.R.E. International student – and their corresponding nominating officers – have been selected for an all-expenses-paid Montana Adventure

As a D.A.R.E. officer, you probably know a D.A.R.E. student who inspires their peers to stay drug free through their example, integrity and life choices. The ten selected D.A.R.E students will be going on an exciting Montana Adventure trip with their guardian sponsored by the 5.11 Light for Life™ Foundation.

The upcoming trip will include:
  • Round-trip airfare, ground travel and a three-day, two-night stay in the luxurious 5.11 Tactical® lodge outside of Billings, Montana, near the Big Horn River
  • A visit to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, the site of Custer’s Last Stand
  • A guided fishing trip down the Big Horn River
  • Wilderness adventures including a hike with 5.11’s new Light for Life™ UC3.400™ Flashlight
  • Food, fun activities and a chance to make new friends

A team of professional recreational specialists will host the families during their stay at the lodge. Student/parent trips will take place during the students’ 2009 summer; officer trips are slated to occur after the students. D.A.R.E. goals, guidelines and curriculum will be followed throughout the trip.

The corresponding officers (as one group) will also receive:

  • Round-trip airfare, ground travel and a three-day, two-night stay in the five-star 5.11 Tactical® lodge
  • A shooting competition at the official 5.11 Tactical Montana Range Facility
  • A full day of trout fishing, led by a professional guide, on the world-famous Big Horn River
  • A tour of Little Bighorn Battlefield, the historic site of Custer’s Last Stand, and other leisure activities
  • Food, relaxing five-star accommodations, great scenery and a chance to meet peers from across the country

What is the 5.11 Light for Life™ Foundation?
5.11 Tactical Series will introduce a revolutionary new flashlight this spring. It uses no batteries, charges in just 90 seconds and shines at 90 lumens for 90 minutes per charge. In bright mode, it shines at 270 peak lumens. Called the Light for Life™ UC3.400™, the flashlight is rated for 50,000 charge cycles (that equals one charge a day for 135 years) and has no memory degradation issues. As the world’s first “batteryless” flashlight, it’s green, lightweight, cost-effective and lasts practically forever. It is the only flashlight an officer or family may need for a lifetime.

As part of 5.11’s efforts to give back to the community and world, the company has created the 5.11 Light for Life Foundation. 5.11 recently formed a partnership with D.A.R.E. in order to serve both Law Enforcement and the community at large.

The mission of the 5.11 Light for Life Foundation is to promote the health and well being of deserving children and their families by providing outstanding outdoor recreational activities, educational opportunities, scholarships and other beneficial programs in conjunction with Law Enforcement organizations with the same mission.

5.11’s new Light for Life flashlight is designed to last for generations to come, and so will D.A.R.E. and the children we hope to positively influence with the Life for Life Foundation – sending youth out to be "positive lights" in their communities!
